This dictionary is provided to you free-of-charge by a group of Chinese students at Indiana University. The impetus for this online tool is our own experience of how important it is to have a dictionary to consult when first moving into an American environment. Since there originally were no available lexical tools for Chinese individuals living abroad, we decided to develop this tool. We have introduced and developed many functions during the course of this project, over a short period of time. We hope that you will find the dictionary convenient to use in your daily life.
baike.com (meaning “Interactive” in English) is the largest Chinese wiki site in this Web-RW era. Built on the first proprietary Chinese wiki software enabled by extensive Web 2.0 elements, baike.com grows to be the largest “Chinese Wikipedia” with improving quality where the content is updating continuously through collective human knowledge contribution. On the other hand side, Hudong released the first Open Source Chinese wiki software HDWiki in the world to fulfill one million websites’ demand to build up a wiki channel or independent wiki site, which helps build up an active wiki community. As the first commercial wiki application in China, baike.com also makes huge contribution to the community and society by promoting mutual trust and social collaboration.
